Here's what 'Michigan Against Atomic Waste' is all about :
"Protect Michigan from Unjustified Radioactive Waste Shipments
While small amounts of radioactive material exist in every state due to medical, industrial, and natural resources - the issue we face is very different.
We're talking about massive, out-of-state shipments of radioactive waste including legacy waste from decades-old nuclear projects - being transported into Michigan and buried near our communities. That's what we must stop. Out-of-State generators are sending their hazardous waste to Michigan, not because it is safe, but because it is politically and economically convenient. They do not want it in their own backyard, so they sell the problem to us. Additionally, other states have enacted legislation that prohibits certain types of radioactive waste disposal within their state, while we continue to bid on it. We must voice our concerns."

In their own words :
Protecting Our Communities from Hazardous Waste
We are dedicated to protecting the health of Michigan communities by advocating for stringent safety measures in hazardous and radioactive waste management. With Michigan's unique geology and its role as a steward of 21% of the earth's freshwater, we emphasize the need for policies that respect the land and prioritize public safety. Our mission extends beyond raising awareness; we seek solutions and fight for meaningful change to ensure a healthy environment for future generations.
